Infusion Therapies

Infusion therapies for iron deficiency, nutrient deficits or chronic strain. Always after blood work and a clear medical indication. Appointment within 48 hours.

First the diagnosis, then the infusion

An infusion is a medical procedure and not a wellness ritual. That is why with us the assessment always comes first. We take your blood, look at your values and talk with you about your complaints and your history. Only when there is a genuine deficiency or a clear medical reason do we plan the appropriate infusion.

When an infusion is medically sensible

An infusion brings active substances directly into your bloodstream. This makes sense when the body absorbs too little through the gut, when a deficiency is pronounced or when tablets are not tolerated. A common reason is iron deficiency, often with tiredness, problems concentrating, hair loss or pallor. After heavy blood loss, with chronic inflammatory bowel disease or in pregnancy too, an iron infusion can be the better choice than tablets.

Besides iron there are situations in which vitamins or micronutrients are given as an infusion. This comes into question, for example, with proven deficits, with absorption disorders after operations or with certain chronic conditions. A fluid administration may also be necessary, for instance with heavy fluid loss or as part of a supportive treatment.

What matters to us is honesty. Not every tiredness comes from a deficiency, and not every deficiency needs an infusion. Sometimes a dietary adjustment is enough, sometimes a course of tablets suffices. We promise you no miracles from a drip. We look closely with you, make sense of your values and treat with an infusion only when it is medically justified. This way you avoid unnecessary procedures and get exactly what your body really needs.

How your treatment with us works

It begins with the conversation. You tell us about your complaints, your medical history and what you have already tried. We then take your blood and determine the values that are relevant for your situation. With a suspected iron deficiency we look, among other things, at the ferritin and the blood count. That way we have a clear basis and do not treat blindly.

If an indication is present, we discuss the procedure, the dosage and possible side effects with you. You learn how long the infusion takes, how it feels and what you should watch for afterwards. Most infusions run through a small needle in the arm vein and take, depending on the preparation, between a few minutes and a good hour. You sit calmly, can read or simply switch off.

During the infusion we are with you and observe how you react. After the treatment you stay under supervision for a short while, so that we are sure everything is well tolerated. We give you guidance on what to watch for in the next few hours and when to contact us. If several sessions are needed, we plan them together and adapt them to your daily life. You get an appointment within 48 hours; you need no referral for it.

Safety and tolerability

Infusions are usually well tolerated when they are properly assessed and correctly administered. This is exactly why we place such value on the diagnosis beforehand. We want to know whether a deficiency exists, how pronounced it is and whether there are reasons that speak against an infusion. These include prior conditions, allergies, pregnancy or certain medications you take.

As with any medical procedure, reactions can occur. At the injection site a feeling of pressure or a small discolouration can arise. With iron infusions, transient reactions are possible in rare cases, which is why we observe you during and after the administration. We inform you about this clearly before the treatment, so that you can make a real decision.

Our aim is a calm, safe treatment without time pressure. You are not a number in a row of appointments. You receive the full attention of our interdisciplinary team. We document your values and, if needed, check after a few weeks whether the treatment has worked, in order to adjust the approach if necessary. This way infusion therapy remains a responsible part of your health and not an empty promise.

Frequently asked questions about infusion therapies

Do I need a referral for an infusion? No. You can contact us directly and get an appointment within 48 hours.

Is blood always taken beforehand? Yes. We treat only with a clear medical indication, which is why the assessment with blood work comes first.

Does an infusion help against general tiredness? Only when a demonstrable deficiency or a medical reason is behind it. If tiredness cannot be explained by a deficiency, we look together for the actual cause.

How long does an infusion take? Depending on the preparation, between a few minutes and a good hour; afterwards you stay with us briefly for observation. Does the infusion hurt?

You feel the small prick of the needle; after that the administration is usually painless. How many sessions do I need? That depends on your findings and the preparation.

Sometimes one session is enough, sometimes several are necessary, which we plan together with you.
