Multimodal Pain Management

Chronic pain in the back, joints or head needs more than a prescription. We coordinate your treatment across every level, with 60 minutes of time.

A plan that fits your whole life

Pain that stays for weeks rarely has only one cause. Body, movement, sleep and the strain of daily life are connected, and this is exactly where we start. In multimodal pain management we combine medical treatment, physiotherapy, psychological support and concrete adjustments in everyday life into one plan. We coordinate this plan here in the practice and bring in specialists when your pain demands it. You need no referral for this, and you get an appointment within 48 hours.

What multimodal pain management means

Acute pain is a warning signal. It tells you that something is wrong, and it usually disappears again as soon as the cause has subsided. Chronic pain works differently. It stays over weeks and months, sometimes long after the original injury has healed. With back pain, joint pain, fibromyalgia or recurring headaches, a single medication is then often not enough.

Multimodal means that we work on several levels at once. We treat the pain medically, for instance with a tailored medication. We strengthen, through physiotherapy and targeted movement, what the body has lost in stability. We take seriously how lack of sleep, stress and worries intensify the pain, and we also support you psychologically. And we look at your daily life, at work, movement and nutrition, because much can be changed there.

These levels work together. Better movement can lower the pain, less pain improves sleep, better sleep makes the body more resilient. We want to turn this cycle in a good direction. That is why we do not plan the therapy as a series of individual measures, but as a coordinated whole in which each step carries the next.

Our aim is not to promise you freedom from complaints, which no one can guarantee. Our aim is for you to get more of your life back. More movement, better sleep, more days on which the pain is not at the centre.

How we build up your treatment

It begins with time. In your first appointment we take 60 minutes, because chronic pain has a story, and we want to hear this story. When did it begin, what makes it better, what worse, what have you already tried, and what does the pain mean for your daily life and your work. Only from this complete picture does a plan emerge that suits you.

We examine you thoroughly and, where necessary, arrange further assessments. Sometimes a cause appears that can be treated specifically. Often the picture is more complex, and this is exactly what multimodal therapy is made for. Together we determine which building blocks should take effect first, be it an adjusted medication, physiotherapy, relaxation and movement exercises or changes in the daily routine.

After that we stay at your side. We arrange regular check-ups in which we examine what is working and what is not, and we adjust the plan. Pain management is not a one-off intervention but a path that we walk with you. You have a steady team in the practice that knows your course and does not start asking from scratch at every appointment.

If your pain needs specialised expertise, such as from rheumatology, neurology, radiology or orthopaedics, we bring it in. We remain the place that holds everything together. So you do not have to coordinate between different practices yourself, but have a steady point of contact who keeps your whole case in view.

When you should contact us

You do not have to wait until the pain is unbearable. When complaints in the back, neck, joints or head last longer than a few weeks or keep recurring, a conversation is worthwhile. The earlier we start together, the better we can prevent acute pain from becoming chronic.

Contact us too if you already have a long history of pain behind you. Many people come to us after trying various treatments that did not quite take hold. That is no reason for resignation. Often it was precisely the coordinated, multi-part approach that multimodal therapy offers that was missing so far.

An appointment is especially important when the pain begins to dominate your life. When you sleep worse, avoid activities that used to give you joy, or when the strain affects your mood. Such consequences must be taken seriously, and they belong in good pain management.

For the first contact you need no referral. You call or write to us, and we give you an appointment within 48 hours. Some pain needs rapid assessment. With sudden, very severe pain, pain after an accident, fever, paralysis, numbness or problems with passing water, please turn to an emergency service immediately and not to a regular appointment.

What you can expect from us

We take your pain seriously, even when no simple picture shows up on an X-ray. Chronic pain is real, even when the cause is not visible at first glance. With us you do not have to justify yourself for feeling unwell. We listen and work with what you describe.

We explain to you clearly what is happening in your body and why we propose certain steps. You should be able to understand why movement often helps, although rest seems more obvious, or what role sleep and stress play. Understanding makes a difference, because a plan you support works better than one you merely follow.

We rely on shared decisions. You tell us what matters to you in everyday life and what is feasible for you, and we tailor the therapy accordingly. A treatment that fits your life you are more likely to keep up than one that overwhelms you.

And we stay reachable. Pain does not keep to consultation hours, and questions come up between appointments. You have steady points of contact in the practice who know your course, from the first hour to the check-ups. This continuity is part of the treatment, not an extra. It is what makes Dein Team fürs Leben what it is for you.

Frequently asked questions about multimodal pain management

Do I need a referral to come to you? No. You can contact us directly, and we give you an appointment within 48 hours.

What is the difference from normal pain treatment? With a single treatment, one means is usually in the foreground, such as a medication. Multimodal means that we combine medicine, movement, psychological support and everyday adjustments into a coordinated plan and adjust it over time.

Will I be free of pain in the end? Complete freedom from complaints no one can seriously promise. Our realistic aim is to lower your pain noticeably and give you back more mobility, better sleep and more good days.

Do I have to take medication? Medications are one possible building block, but not the only one and not always the first. We discuss with you what makes sense and include your wishes.

How long does such a therapy take? That depends on your story and your goals. Chronic pain usually needs time and regular check-ups, in which we readjust the plan together.

What happens if I need a specialist? Then we bring in the appropriate specialty, such as rheumatology, neurology, radiology or orthopaedics. We remain the place that coordinates everything, so that you do not have to mediate between practices yourself.
